Leaving

The clock ticks past midnight;
You’re leaving in the morning.
You must think me so cold,
To believe that I’m not mourning.

If I’m offhanded, it’s from faith:
My assurance you’ll return.
And my hope that in your leaving
You will grow and you will learn.
