Yearn

I wonder if you can understand,
That I kill pieces of myself
Just to prove I can;
Just to see if you can bring them back again.

I wonder if you can understand,
That when I said what I said
I wasn’t saying “go away,”
I was saying “come back another day.”

I wonder if you can understand,
That I’ll hide beneath every rock
Just to see how many you’re willing to turn;
And if you aren’t at all — then you’ll never get to see how much I yearn.

  1. Fair enough, Rachel. You’re worth the effort, and you provide us tantalizing motivations nearly every day.

    Now, when we coax you into the sun-dappled clearing, will you share even more secrets?

    More important still, will you return the favor? See, I think you will. In fact, considering how generously you’ve encouraged my efforts, I know you will.
