Dancing With Fire

I have been caught in a dance with a flame
I have been warned, but still I remain
I have been drawn by the warmth of a fire,
But I find It’s the steps of the dance I desire

I have been caught in a dance with a flame
I’ve heard it all; he’s not one I can tame
But I know the truth at the heart of the fire,
And there’s worse things in life than a boy and his pyre

  1. Clever progression, Rachel!

A common condition for us all, no? Cautious and averse to risk as we may be, we also know, instinctively reward comes only after taking a risk,

Especially in the realm of love.

A bit of a variation on the original French observation, but a beating heart has no ears.

      1. So true, no? All too often, we get it wrong. Taking a chance does nothing but showcase our idiocy. Or, conversely, we refrain from the asinine, only to regret later not having taken the chance.

Still, the one time in three (or, if we’re not so skilled or fortunate, the one time in three thousand) we hit it right, it makes it all worth it. This – this is our motivation. Indeed it’s what keeps this whole “relationship” thing going for everyone!
